NotchNook vs notchos
NotchNook is the best-known name in the space: a notch app with a big grid of widgets, file folders, to-dos, and polished Dynamic-Island-style animation. It is also on Setapp. If you want a notch app that behaves like a small dashboard of its own, it is the one people recommend first.
NotchNook’s own site — see it for yourself before deciding anything.
Where NotchNook wins
- A large, mature widget catalog and the most recognizable brand in the category.
- Animation polish that set the standard everyone else is measured against.
- Setapp inclusion, if you already subscribe.
Where notchos differs
- notchos is $9.99 once — not $25, and never a renewal — and covers three Macs.
- Twenty-seven live integrations (GitHub, Sentry, Stripe, Cloudflare, OpenAI usage…) against a read-only key, none of which is a widget to arrange.
- On-device dictation with spoken commands, snippets, and per-app verbatim mode.
- Everything is local: no account, no telemetry, and read-only keys never leave the Mac.
The honest verdict
Choose NotchNook if you want the established widget hub and don’t mind paying for it. Choose notchos if what you want is live data and working tools — revenue, analytics, timers, dictation — for a third of the price, once.
Twenty tools. One hover. $9.99, once.
