Download notchos
One app, the whole machine — twenty tools, on-device dictation, twenty-seven integrations, fifteen themes. Download and take the welcome tour; when it has earned its spot above your keyboard, a license is $9.99 once.
macOS 14+ · Apple Silicon & Intel · no account · updates install in-app
Will it run on your Mac?
- macOS 14 or later
- Sonoma and up. The overlay, EventKit, and capture hiding all sit on APIs that arrived with Sonoma.
- Apple Silicon and Intel
- Both run the full tool belt. There is no Intel-only or silicon-only feature anywhere in the app.
- No notch required
- On Macs and external displays without the hardware cutout, notchos draws a simulated pill at the top of the screen — everything works identically.
- Permissions are asked, not taken
- The microphone only if you use dictation; Accessibility for insert-anywhere and window snap; Input Monitoring for the push-to-talk key; EventKit for the calendar. Each is optional and explained before macOS ever prompts.
The first five minutes
- 01Open the disk imageDrag notchos to Applications and launch it once. macOS will note that the package is notarized-by-us rather than by an Apple Developer ID — see the question below on the first launch.
- 02Take the welcome tourA first-launch tour walks the choices: hover-dwell or click to open, which tools to enable, what the resting pill carries. Every one of them is reversible in Settings.
- 03Hover the notchThat is the whole product. The pill rests, the panel springs, the tool belt is yours — and when it has earned its spot, paste a license key into Settings → License.
How the license reaches you
Checkout runs on Dodo Payments — card, Apple Pay, or PayPal, and taxes handled where applicable. The moment payment succeeds, a key shaped NCHOS-XXXXX-… is generated and emailed to you; paste it into Settings → License inside the app. One key covers three of your Macs, deactivate to move a slot, and if the key ever goes missing, the license page re-sends it to your purchase email. Refunds are handled through Dodo — a refunded key simply stops activating.
No account is created at any point. The key is the whole relationship.

Before you install
- What does the download include?
- The complete app: all twenty tools, dictation, every integration, all fifteen themes. Nothing is gated behind add-ons — the only gate is the license itself, and it is one key for everything.
- What happens without a license key?
- The notch rests as a key glyph and the panel opens on an activation screen. There is no separate trial to remember — buying and activating are the same three steps on the pricing page.
- The first launch warns about an unidentified developer
- Update packages are minisign-signed against a key pinned inside the app, rather than by an Apple Developer ID certificate. The first install needs the usual Gatekeeper step — right-click, Open — and in-app updates after that verify cryptographically on their own.
- How do updates arrive?
- Inside the app. The panel header shows an update chip when a new release is on the feed: one press downloads, verifies against the pinned key, installs, and relaunches. Release packages live on GitHub.
- How do I move it to a new Mac?
- Install on the new machine and activate there; a license holds three device slots, and deactivating one in Settings → License frees it for the move.
