What shipped, and when

The build log, dated the day each change landed. notchos is a young product — the log is short because it is honest, not because it is curated: internal refactors stay in the repository where they belong.

Installed copies update themselves: the panel header shows an update chip when a new release is on the feed — one press downloads, verifies against the pinned key, installs, and relaunches.

  1. Dictation, live in the notch

    • On-device speech-to-text that takes the pill over while you speak — waveform, live transcript, everything as you say it.
    • Deterministic cleanup: fillers stripped, punctuation and capitalization fixed, numbers, prices, times, emails, and URLs written properly.
    • Sixty-plus spoken symbol commands, emoji by name, exact snippets, learned spellings, and “scratch that”.
    • Hold, tap, or hands-free (voice-activity) activation with a global push-to-talk key; per-app verbatim mode for terminals.
    • Local history with a retention window you choose, and a words-and-minutes stats page.
  2. The license gate, polished

    • An activated key now hides itself after activation — the setting shows status, not the secret.
    • The unlicensed pill rests as a key glyph and the panel opens on an activation screen.
  3. Fifteen themes, light and dark

    • A theme registry with normalized ids, from Minimal through Carbon — each in a light and a dark palette.
    • A Settings Theme section with a swatch grid and live hover preview.
  4. Your dock, your order

    • Drag to reorder the panel’s tool dock; a hidden group keeps the disabled ones out of the way.
    • Right-click menu on the pill, and a pure tool catalog under it all.
  5. One-click updates

    • The official Tauri v2 updater, wired to signed GitHub release packages.
    • An update chip in the panel header: download, verify against the pinned key, install, relaunch — one press.
  6. A faster, better-behaved panel

    • Panel tools lazy-load with hot paths cached.
    • Hover-out closing now checks the rendered slab rectangle with cursor motion, so the panel stops closing on careless exits.
    • A cold-launch fix for the black panel: WKWebView occlusion suspension is healed at startup.
  7. Licensing, end to end

    • Dodo checkout, a key shaped NCHOS-XXXXX-… emailed on payment, and Settings → License activation.
    • Three device slots per key; deactivate to move one.
  8. notchos 1.0 — the whole tool belt

    • Twenty panel tools, seven more surfaces, twenty-seven read-only integrations.
    • Live activities in the resting pill; a simulated pill on Macs and displays without a notch.
    • Drop Actions, window snap, capture hiding, EventKit calendar, and a first-launch welcome tour.

Twenty tools. One hover. $9.99, once.
