Drop Actions
A grid of file actions that springs open when you drop files on the notch.
What it means
Drop Actions turn the notch into a drop target: let go of a drag on the pill and a grid of tiles appears — AirDrop, zip, unzip, convert, move, copy, reveal, trash, eject — and the file lands on the action you pick.
Why it matters
Drag-and-drop is the Mac’s oldest gesture, and the notch is the one spot every window leaves exposed. A drop target that is always in the same place removes an entire class of fiddly Finder trips.
How notchos does it
Fifteen toggleable tiles, each individually switched — keep the four you use, retire the eleven you don’t. Conversions run locally through the macOS toolchain already on your disk.
Fair questions
- What file types can I convert?
- Images — to and from JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and PDF — using sips locally.
- Is there a shelf action?
- Yes — shelf is one of the tiles, for files that are not-done-yet.
