EventKit

Apple’s framework for reading calendars and reminders on the Mac.

What it means

EventKit is the macOS and iOS framework that gives apps permissioned access to the user’s calendars and reminders — the same store Calendar.app uses. Access is granted per-app by a system prompt and can be revoked in System Settings.

Why it matters

It means a calendar view in a notch app is your real calendar, not a parallel one to maintain. Permission is the user’s, granted once, visible forever.

How notchos does it

The Calendar tool reads a 7-day agenda and tickable reminders through EventKit, with quick add, and it surfaces the permission state honestly before it can see anything.

Fair questions

Does notchos edit my events?
It reads and it adds when you ask; it never changes or deletes what is already there.
Which calendars does it see?
Every account you have connected to Calendar.app — iCloud, Google, Exchange — filtered by the same permission you granted.
