Capture hiding
Vanishing from screenshots, recording, and screen sharing entirely.
What it means
Capture hiding marks the notch window so macOS excludes it from screen capture — screenshots, recordings, and screen shares render the notch as if the app were not running.
Why it matters
A pill showing your revenue, your clipboard, or your Claude spend has no business appearing in a client call. This is the boundary between a personal instrument and a shared screen.
How notchos does it
Verified, not assumed: window capture fails while it is on — the documented test is that capture returns nothing for the notch window at all.
Fair questions
- Does it also hide from the Dock and Cmd-Tab?
- The app runs as a menu-bar utility with a tray; there is no Dock presence to hide.
- Can I toggle it for my own screenshots?
- Yes — it is a switch like every other behavior, in Settings.
